Harry Potter Fans Can Now Spend A Night In The Famous Hogwarts Building

Harry Potter fans were in awe when they got their first glimpse at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry when the first film hit the big screen in 2001. From the grounds where the characters learnt to play Quidditch, to the Great Hall where they enjoyed plenty of feasts, this historic building added to the old-world charm.
The building that depicted Hogwarts was actually Christ Church College in Oxford, which is where many of the scenes were shot. The College, which was established in 1546 by Henry VIII, makes up part of the prestigious Oxford University. And during the holiday periods, such as Easter and over the British summer, you can book a room inside it.
The grand staircase (which sadly doesn’t move) and the Tudor dining hall will be instantly recognisable to fans of the franchise. While this isn’t a Harry Potter-themed experience, but rather just providing rooms for people travelling to Oxford, the rates are reasonable, with rooms starting at £95 (R2 125) a night. This is slightly more for people wanting breakfast the next morning, which is eaten in the Great Hall. Your imagination will have to add the ghosts and floating candles.
Rooms come in single or twin occupancy. En-suite bedrooms have their own basin, shower and toilet within the room. Standard rooms have their own basin but shared bathroom and toilet facilities. The location of Christ Church College is also very central, which is ideal for people to explore the city on foot after they have taken in every inch of the building and its grounds.
With the new Harry Potter series set to premiere later this year, the franchise is getting renewed interest. In fact, visitors to London can take a wander down to Oxford Street to visit a new two-floor “wizarding emporium”, where fans can immerse themselves in the wizarding world through interactive zones, capturing the magic with photo ops and scoring merchandise unique to the store.
