- Alex Hall won another Olympic medal
- The freestyle skier took silver in the men’s freeski slopestyle event at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics on Tuesday, Feb. 10 in Livigno, Italy
- Hall said the weather was “tricky” and added drama to the already-difficult course
Alex Hall is “stoked” about winning the silver!
The Team USA freestyle skier — who won the gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Games — came up just short of the same result in the men’s freeski slopestyle on Tuesday, Feb. 10 in Livigno, Italy. But the Alaska-born athlete said he was happy just to be on the podium.
“I’m so hyped for Birk [Rudd, Norway] and Luca [Harrington, New Zealand] getting on the podium. Hyped for everyone in the finals,” the 27-year-old athlete told reporters after the event. “I was coming in saying I would ski my best, and if I get a medal in the process I would be so stoked. And I was able to get one, so I’m so happy.”
Amid murky “flat light” conditions that contributed to what Hall called a “tricky day,” the skier stumbled out of the gate, so to speak, on his first run, posting a 52.65 that left him outside medal position, according to The Washington Post.
The run added drama to the proceedings, and his parents — who were in the stands in Italy, after being unable to travel to China in 2022 due to Covid restrictions — paced in the crowd. Dad Marcus Hall circled the venue but returned in time to see his son recover on his second run.

“I wasn’t sure I could do the run,” Alex told reporters about his second attempt. “I never got it in practice, like altogether, especially on the rails. I was trying such a hard rail run. Definitely the best rail run I’ve ever done.”

He added, “I was almost not too nervous because I knew if I was just trying my absolute hardest run, there would be a very good chance I wouldn’t get it in three tries. Sometimes you’re less nervous when you have that mentality, versus trying to play it a little safe and you’re mad at yourself that you’ve played it safe if you landed it and you don’t do well. I knew I was just going all out and I really wasn’t too nervous actually.”

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE before the Games, Hall shared his enthusiasm for living in the moment, and said that he was “hyped” about his third Olympics experience, which happens to be in his mother Elena Conti’s Italian homeland.
“It’s going to be pretty sweet,” Hall told PEOPLE about the prospect of his family looking on in Livigno.

After his moment on the podium, he reflected on his latest accomplishment.
“Whether it’s gold, silver or bronze, I think I can assure you all the boys on the podium and everyone in the field is proud of themselves,” he said. “I’m really proud of myself for the silver.”
