Victoria Beckham’s early WAG style is the stuff of legend. An integral part of the wives-and-girlfriends cultural phenomenon in the early Noughties, the designer put spectator sport dressing on the map with her iconic wardrobe full of cut-off denim shorts, tank tops and ostentatiously oversized sunglasses.
Safe to say, Beckham’s style has evolved quite radically since then. Now, the former Spice Girl demonstrates a devout loyalty to tailoring in her everyday wardrobe, with a go-to uniform that blends modernity with sophistication — and it looks as though her WAG style has evolved in the same vein.
On Friday, Beckham attended the football match between Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, showing her support for husband David, who is the club owner of the latter. Though she may have swapped the London and Paris streets for the Atlantic Coast, the designer was steadfast in her styling, taking to the stands in a sharply-tailored three-piece pinstripe trouser suit
Not a million miles away from ex-England manager Gareth Southgate’s go-to World Cup wardrobe, the ensemble consisted of a fitted waistcoat, double-breasted blazer and slim-leg trousers imagined in a dark navy blue pinstripe pattern, which she accessorised with one of her favourite gold chunky watches – likely her Patek Phillipe Nautilus timepiece which she often wears. Beckham kept the rest of her jewellery pared-back, opting for some delicate pearl hoop earrings and a thin gold necklace with a single gemstone accent.
Though her love of a sharply-tailored jacket is nothing new, Beckham is particularly favouring the piece in her wardrobe this autumn. For the premiere of her eponymous Netflix documentary, the designer layered a white single-breasted blazer over a V-neck blouse and midi skirt in a matching hue, while the week before, she was spotted out in Paris in a cohesive grey trouser suit and white T-shirt. The lesson here? Tailoring is timeless, and transcends all occasions — even the football grounds.
