THEY may be Britain’s most requested cosmetic surgery – but breast implants can have some rather nasty side effects.
While 5,200 boob job operations took place in Britain in 2024, a number of celebrities have been outspoken about why they were desperate to get their implants removed.
This year, Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona gave a stark warning against breast surgery after hers got in the way of her bedroom antics.
The 45-year-old, who recently started an OnlyFans, admitted to The Times: “I’ve had my tits done and my nose fixed as I had a hole in it. I’ve had Botox.
“I don’t want much more. The last implants started slipping while I was having sex.”
And she’s not the only celeb to have boob job regret.
While some people may swear by giving their assets a boost – these red carpet regulars will testify that sometimes they are ‘better out than in’…
Laura Anderson
Love Island’s Laura Anderson, who appeared in the 2018 villa, has undergone multiple breast surgeries since the age of 18, after taking out a loan to pay for cosmetic implants without her parents’ knowledge.
She had a boob job to take her chest from a 32B to a 32DD – but hated the large size.
Laura admitted: “I was desperate to be a glamour model like Lucy Pinder as that was the thing back then. I wanted to be sexy and models were sexy.
“I regretted it as soon as I came out of surgery – when I woke up I just cried.
“I’d asked the surgeon for the C cup implants but they’d put in the bigger ones and said it’d ‘save me cash in the long run as they knew I’d want them done again’ but I hated them as soon as I saw them, they were massive.”
The former cabin crew member, 36, admitted she thinks she may not have been cast for Love Island without a larger chest, in March 2019, after struggling with shooting pains in her left boob, she decided to go under the knife again to have her implants changed.
But despite Laura, currently dating Scots footballer Clark Robertson, putting herself through gruelling surgery again – she’s still not happy with them.
She told Fabulous: “When I came around I felt quite disheartened again. They’re still so big and I have these huge red scars which I don’t think will go.
“All I want is 18-year-old Laura’s boobs back before surgery, but I know that is impossible.
“Having no implants and to be natural is honestly the person I feel inside but I’ll never get that back.”
Josie Gibson
This Morning star Josie Gibson has revealed she went through a terrifying cancer scare after finding a large lump in her breast – and discovered it was related to her breast implants.
Josie, a regular presenter on the ITV show, had a breast enhancement operation in 2013 to take her from a B cup to a DD.
For the sake of her health, she decided to get both implants removed – and has revealed it has given her “peace of mind”.

Talking about the 2023 ordeal, Josie, 41, told the Sun on Sunday: “I had a big lump underneath my left boob and I was getting really worried about it.
“You could actually see it protruding — you could see the breast had changed shape, so I was getting a little bit frightened.
“So I went to my GP and he had a feel around — it was my breast implant. I went and I had them out and, for me, it was one of the best things I’ve done.”
Anna Vakili
In 2024, Love Island’s Anna Vakili revealed she had flown to Turkey to correct her ‘bottomed out’ breast implants.
However, the reality star, 34, has since been vocal about regretting having ever tweaked her natural figure in the first place.
On an episode of their podcast, Sisters In The City, Anna, who had her first breast enlargement over 10 years ago, admitted to “ruining” her once “perfect” boobs.
The brunette beauty who paid around £5,000 for her boob job, previously told The Sun: “I got my boobs done in 2013, going from a B-cup to an E, but they became really heavy.”
And now, she explained: “I regret my boobs, ever doing them. I wish I never touched my boobs, ever, ever.
“I had great boobs. I ruined them. I’m now scarred for life. I just regret it so much.
“My boobs before implants were perfect. I had the perfect boobs before implants.”
Not only this, but Anna, who previously travelled to Turkey with her sister Mandi for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), continued: “One of my biggest regrets is that last BBL.”
Victoria Beckham

For years, many Spice Girl fans speculated whether Victoria Beckham had had breast implants, but she strongly denied it.
However, she later admitted it when she’d already had the implants taken out.
The fashion designer is thought to have gone under the knife after the birth of her now-estranged first son Brooklyn in 1999, boosting her bust from a 34A to a 34DD.
At the time, Posh, now 51, denied the rumours, insisting she was “completely natural, except for my fingernails” and claiming her enhanced cleavage was down to push-up bras.
But in 2011, the mum-of-four told Allure: “I don’t have them anymore,” and added to Vogue: “No torpedo bazookas, either. Gone”.
In a letter penned to her 18-year-old self for Vogue, the former singer and mother-of-four spoke candidly about her cosmetic surgery, saying: “All those years I denied it – stupid. A sign of insecurity. Just celebrate what you’ve got.”
Jess Wright
Former Towie star Jess Wright, who is parent to son Presley, had 32DD implants back in 2011 – and documented the process on the ITVBe series.
However, she later confessed she “regretted” having surgery in the first place, she opted to have them removed.
Jess, 40, spoke candidly to The Sun about her procedure reversal and said: “I was so sick of my big boobs – every single red-carpet dress I wanted to wear I had to dress for my boobs.
“My recommendation to any girl out there who has lovely boobs to begin with, which I did have, and I still do have, thank God, since having them out – don’t have any implants.”
Jess previously told how she would dissuade younger sister Natalya from having a boob job.
She added: “As I’ve got older, I was worried about having foreign bodies in my body.
“I just got to the point where I didn’t want anything in my body anymore, and if I ever have a daughter, I wouldn’t want her to either.”
Stephanie Waring
Hollyoaks legend Stephanie Waring revealed she had her breast implants removed after 14 years sharing an emotional video from hospital.
Steph, 47, shared her news on Instagram last year as she bravely revealed she made the decision after going through perimenopause.
She said there was “nothing wrong” with her implants but that the symptoms she experienced having early menopause four years ago had been “debilitating”.
She said in her video: “Now I’m getting some balance back. I just feel to have a fighting chance to feel normal and like me again.
“I just want to get rid of anything foreign in my body. So unfortunately I have to say goodbye to these today.”
Stephanie Davies
Stephanie Davis had her “horrible, massive” breast implants removed, but admitted she worried she wouldn’t ‘wake up’ after the surgery.
The Hollyoaks actress, 32, filmed herself in a hospital bed before going under the knife for her “mummy makeover”.
She admitted feeling “really nervous” that the surgery wasn’t going to go to plan, saying she “might not see anyone again”.
Stephanie shared: “I’ve not slept last night worrying, but I know I’m in safe hands.
“These horrible, massive implants that I got put in years ago, I’m having removed.”
The soap star revealed she had felt pressured to get them as she thought she would feel more “confident”, “sexy” and “attractive.
However she admitted: “I wish I could go back and never touched my body because I was perfect the way I was, but I couldn’t see that then.
“So now I’m going back, trying to go back to the way I was. Implants out, small boobs, again, natural… because they have gone so big.”
Lauren Goodger
With her cosmetically enhanced bosom and gravity defying Brazilian butt lift, Lauren Goodger was just one of many reality stars determined to attain that infamous Kardashian look back in the late 2010s.
Lauren’s surgery journey began in 2013 when she had her boobs boosted from a 34D to a 34E.
But fast forward a decade, and the Towie star regrets ever going under the surgeon’s scalpel – and last May spoke about getting her boob implants removed.
She admitted: “I’ve ruined my looks with surgery – I hate my fake boobs and bum now.”
The reality star, 39, exclusively told The Sun: “I feel like my body looks abnormal – I don’t need these massive boobs and massive bum.
“They make me look bigger than I am and I wish I’d never had them done in the first place. When I look at myself naked in the mirror, all I see is lumps and bumps everywhere.
“I’m 100 per cent getting it all reversed. I don’t want anything fake in my body. This look doesn’t suit me anymore and I’m ready to go back to the old Lauren.”
