When Cristiano and Georgina announced their engagement in August 2025, fans around the world were excited. The model shared a photo of her dazzling ring with the simple but powerful caption: “Yes, I do.” It was the fairytale moment fans had been waiting for, but as Ronaldo has now revealed in his interview with journalist Piers Morgan, it didn’t come without deep thought.

“I always say that good things happen at the right time,” he explained. “Sometimes you need time to realize you shouldn’t make certain mistakes. I didn’t want to rush something so important.’

The Proposal That Wasn’t Planned

Ronaldo’s proposal wasn’t scripted or over-the-top. It was spontaneous and utterly heartfelt. “Good things happen naturally,” he said, laughing as he recalled the moment. “Football, life, opportunities, marriage… they come when they should.”

He revealed that Georgina had always dreamed of a ring with a precious stone, and he made sure it was exactly what she wanted. But the moment itself was completely unplanned. It was one in the morning, their daughters Alana and Eva were asleep, and Ronaldo decided that was the time.

“As I was giving Georgina the ring,” he said, “our daughters came in and asked, ‘Daddy, are you giving Mommy the ring and asking her to marry you?’ That was when I truly realized — yes, it was the right moment.”

After years of speculation, Ronaldo also dropped the detail everyone wanted to know: the wedding date. The ceremony will take place in September 2026, right after the World Cup. “We’ll get married after the World Cup,” he said with a smile. “And I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion’s trophy.”

Cristiano and Georgina’s story began back in 2016 in Madrid, when she was working as a sales assistant at Gucci. “One day he told me he had to attend an event and asked if I would be there,” she once shared. That chance encounter turned into a love story that’s since captivated the world.

Their relationship, often glimpsed through Georgina’s Netflix reality show, has shown both the glamour and the genuine affection between them. Together they’re raising their five children — Cristiano Jr., twins Eva and Mateo, Alana Martina, and Bella Esmeralda — and have built a family life grounded in love and loyalty.

For Georgina, family comes first. “They are the most important thing,” she has said. “And since I have opportunities many mothers don’t, I think: why should I go out and do other things if what truly makes me happy is being with my children?”
