This week in central London, Amanda left little to the imagination in a clingy nude Florere dress.
For the uninitiated, the Britain’s Got Talent judge has admitted she has “sensitive nipples” or to give it the correct medical term – nipple vasospasm.
It means they can become painful or hardened in cold weather – embarrassing for mere mortals but something that can work to the advantage of the pert and not-so-publicity shy celeb.
Just what is about the humble nipple that whips the keyboard warriors into such a judgemental frenzy urging her to put a bra on or at least a cardigan?
‘Sensitive nipples’
Not that it’s anything the 54-year-old hasn’t heard before. In the past she has had to explain to her two million Instagram followers that contrary to erect appearances she is usually wearing a Skims bra and is in fact “hardly ever braless”.
You see, nipple-gate is a very long running saga in Amanda land.
Clapping defiantly back at the haters in 2022, she told The Sun: “I’m just like, ‘Get over it’. It doesn’t seem to matter when you see boys’ nipples, so I just don’t get why it matters when you can see girls’.
“It’s everyone else that makes the fuss about them. But I have no problem with it. They’ve got their own management, and they’re insured!”
Which is all very Holden. A predilection for Carry On film-style sauciness with the unshakeable confidence of having a banging body that is more age 24 than 54 means they’ll be no covering up any time soon.
And it’s clearly helping in the bedroom after she admitted her and husband of 17 years Chris Hughes have a “primal” sex life and can’t keep their hands off each other.

In her sixth decade, a time when women have traditionally carried self-doubt and insecurities and covered up with a sarong while on holiday, she’s got the bikini bod, holding her own alongside her teenage daughters and basking in her hotness and lack of inhibitions.
Take the ever more plunging whisps of lace and chiffon she barely wears on Britain’s Got Talent – the kind of big reveal that’s gone up a gear since she first appeared on the show back in 2007.
Viewer complaints to Ofcom over the flesh on show are now as much part of the proceedings as the golden buzzer and a dancing dog, controversy she wears like a badge of honour.
What’s more, as longevity becomes the wellness buzzword on everyone’s lips, her age-defying physique is now key to her brand and the bigger bucks of her post 50 career-high as the fashion,

Can she appear a little smug? Just a bit irritating? Yes. And good genes and fat pay checks mean staying in peak condition is a little easier than it is for many of us.
But it can’t be denied that as a prominent glam mid-lifer redefining age appropriateness and rallying against societal expectation she is a

As such the usual accusations of “parading” or “flaunting” her body could easily be re-framed as celebrating something she’s clearly proud of.

Of course, the line between body positivity, female empowerment and sexual objectification can be a fine one.
And there is an argument to be made that as a smart, successful woman, this need to play up her physical assets, however tongue-in-cheek, can seem a little reductive.
Also, there is the small matter of context and appropriateness. The star may like to push boundaries and enjoy the attention her flesh-flashing choices on Britain’s Got Talent, but it is first and foremost

Some of the complaints generated simply reflect that point as much as any personal ageist or sexist judgement.
But more to the point Holden just doesn’t care; she’s unapologetic hard nipples and all.
Forget the debate about whether she is braless or not – the fact is this fifty-something mum-of-two knows she doesn’t need one anyway – which is enough to make anyone jealous….
