Warning: SPOILERS for And Just Like That Season 3, Episode 5

Speaking to Variety about Harry’s reveal in And Just Like That season 3, episode 5, Kristin Davis revealed her reaction to Harry’s cancer storyline, which would involve Charlotte caring for her husband. Davis also discussed why Charlotte’s promise to keep Harry’s secret is a “perfect storyline” for her character, who forgets her own health issues as she tends to Harry’s needs. Read Davis’ quote below:
I knew something would happen, right? We couldn’t just go on, if you know what I mean. I was relieved that it wasn’t something horrible. It could have been worse — at least I didn’t have to cheat on him or something like that, right? That would be so out of character; it would make no sense. I knew Michael [Patrick King] wouldn’t do that, but I was like, Oh, God — cancer. Which is how Charlotte feels, and, of course, how everyone would feel.
But the thing that I love, that you’ll see in the second half, is that it has a really great way that it goes — in terms of Charlotte having to keep the secret that Harry wants her to keep, and the toll that it takes on her. She’s trying to take care of him, and then she’s trying to fulfill his wishes about who she tells or doesn’t tell. So she really doesn’t have her friends, and she ends up not taking care of herself.
This is something that a lot of people relate to — women and men — if you have a partner who gets a disease, and you forget to take care of yourself. It has a comedic element to it, which was really fun and scary to do, but it’s just really true to life. It seems like a perfect storyline for Charlotte that she would, of course, forget to take care of herself, and then have her own health issue because she forgot to take care of herself.
What Kristin Davis’ Comments Mean For And Just Like That Season 3
Charlotte And Harry Required A Strong AJLT Season 3 Story
Kristin Davis echoes a familiar sentiment from And Just Like That fans: Charlotte has lacked an interesting story in And Just Like That season 3, and the revival show hasn’t done enough to push the subversive Sex and the City character out of her comfort zone. As Davis said, it would be unthinkable for Charlotte and Harry’s romance to fracture from the inside — they are too happy a couple, who love each other too much to splinter from pressure. Harry’s prostate cancer diagnosis is out of the couple’s hands.
Our Take On Kristin Davis’ Comments About Charlotte & Harry’s And Just Like That Season 3 Story
Will Harry Goldenblatt Survive His Prostate Cancer?
I’m weary of Harry’s story in And Just Like That season 3, and despite Davis’ promise that the story will have some comic relief, I’m worried about Harry and Charlotte. After their discussion in the last episode, and with Charlotte’s story stalling in season 3, I was anticipating something life-changing like this was coming for the couple. That said, it makes sense for the revival series. Charlotte and Harry have long had a happy marriage, enduring more satisfaction and less strife than any other couple in the Sex and the City franchise. Sadly, it was time to rock the boat.
The York-Goldenblatts will be united in fighting Harry’s cancer.
