Henry Cavill Underwent a Three-Day Dehydration Regimen for Shirtless Scenes in The Witcher: ‘You get to the point where you can smell water nearby’

Some are ready to do anything it takes for the sake of their art… as well as looking hotter than hot without a shirt on.

Former Superman Henry Cavill recently made an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in support of his new Netflix series The Witcher, a supernatural story revolving around an old-time monster hunter that on the surface seems to resemble Game Of Thrones.

On the British late night show, Cavill, 36, talked about the grueling prep work he had to put his body through before the steamy shirtless scenes in the show, which included a regimen of dehydration which lasted for three days.

‘Diet is difficult, and you’re hungry, but when you’re dehydrating for three days you get to the point, on the last day, where you can smell water nearby,’ the Jersey Island-born hunk told Norton.

‘That CAN’T be good for you!’ Graham exclaimed to the actor.

‘It’s not NO water for 3 days,’ Cavill specified. ‘On the first day you’ll have a liter and a half, and the second day half a liter, and then the third day, no water, and you’ll shoot on the fourth [day].’

‘…and the funeral is on the sixth day,’ fellow guest Rob Brydon joked.

The Witcher, meanwhile, released on Netflix’s platform on Friday, and according to its Internet Movie Database (IMDb) rating the show fared quite well — so well, in fact, that it outperformed even Stranger Things in terms of ratings on that site.

And while the eight-part series has only garnered a paltry 55 percent in critics’ ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, the audience score stands at a much healthier 93 percent, with the consensus being that Cavill ‘brings brawny charisma to a series teeming with subversive fantasy elements and dark humor.’

The Witcher, an adaptation of the bestselling medieval book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, centers on protagonist Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a monster hunter who travels the countryside slaying terrifying beasts.

The story also examines Princess Ciri (Freya Allan) and Yennefer of Vengerberg’s (Anya Chalotra) arcs, as the trio’s intertwining destinies find them coming together in full force.

Created for TV by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the show has already been renewed for a second season by Netflix, who announced the good news in November.

Henry, meanwhile, last portrayed Superman in the DC Extended Cinematic Universe in 2017’s Justice League, and has since appeared in an installment of the popular Tom Cruise-starring film franchise Mission: Impossible.
