EVERYONE has that one outfit they regret wearing – and this reassuringly includes the flawless Princess of Wales.
Princess Kate, 42, always looks impeccably dressed during public occasions, but she admitted that there was one Christmas Day ensemble she wishes she hadn’t worn.
In 2019, the royal mum-of-three was seen walking to church on the Sandringham Estate in a chic grey Catherine Walker coat.
The Princess of Wales finished off the look with a stylish matching hat, a clutch and forest green heels.
Kate looked unquestionably elegant, and her main issue wasn’t with the look of the outfit but more with the practicality.
Christmas Day that year was “unseasonably warm”, and Kate started to feel uncomfortable in her coat.
Royal fan Rachel Anvil, who was among the crowds waiting for the royals, was told by Princess Kate that she had outfit regret, claims Metro.
Rachel’s mum Karen said: “Kate was talking to my daughter about clothes and how she was feeling too hot, she said ‘I really shouldn’t have worn this.
“I’m there talking to Charlotte about dolls and my daughter’s talking about fashion with Kate. “
“It wasn’t fake it was a genuine discussion, it was about a minute but it was tailored to my daughter, it was like speaking to a friend.”
Style icon Kate
Fashion expert Amber Graafland told Fabulous: “There’s no disputing that the Princess of Wales has established herself as a global style icon.
“Fashion choices aside, during her years in the royal spotlight, she’s learned to echo the same tactics the late Queen adopted.
“From choosing block colours that ensure she stands out at public engagements, to wearing a national colour to show respect for a host country or opting for symbolic jewels to honour late loved ones, she’s mastered the art of sartorial symbolism.
“The Princess uses her clothing to send coded messages and often weaves hidden tributes and powerful symbols into her dressing. ”
Kate’s comeback
The Princess of Wales beamed earlier this month as she held her star-studded Christmas celebrations at Westminster Abbey, in the most poignant carol service yet amid her cancer diagnosis.
The Princess said at last year’s carol service she “didn’t know” what 2024 had in store for her, as she spoke to singer Paloma Faith.
The artist, who performed during the festivities, expressed sympathy for the princess, who this year underwent chemotherapy.
Kate confessed: “I didn’t know this time last year it was going to be the year I’ve just had.”
The princess, who married Prince William in 2011 and attended the late Queen’s funeral in 2022 at the abbey, also told how the building held “so many memories” for her.
The royal was admitted to The London Clinic for major abdominal surgery in January this year, before bravely announcing her cancer diagnosis in March.
She has only been to a handful of public events throughout her recovery, including Trooping the Colour, the Men’s Wimbledon final, and the Remembrance Sunday Cenotaph service.
In September Kate released another touching video message in which she shared she had finished chemotherapy and is focusing on being “cancer free”.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, along Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are expected to spend Christmas Day at Sandringham with the royal family as usual this year.
