The Australian actor has become somewhat of a heart-throb for his role on Foxtel’s A Place To Call Home.
But David Berry admitted he almost turned down the chance to appear on sexy period drama Outlander, before first receiving approval from his mother-in-law.
The 32-year-old told Sydney Confidential: ‘That blessing made it more comfortable.’

David will debut in the season three’s third episode, All Debts Paid, in which he joins the cast as Lord John Grey.
‘I was going to say no … but what really sealed it for me to make the decision is my mother-in-law,’ he confessed.
David added: ‘She was like “just do it” and (I think) that’s because she’s a huge super fan of Outlander. But that blessing made it more comfortable for both of us to think I could go.’
Friend or foe? David will debut in the season three’s third episode, All Debts Paid, in which he joins the cast as Lord John Grey. It is unsure whether he will take on the villain role of the series after Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan – LEFT) rival Captain Black Jack Randall died.
The hit show centers around Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), who feature in the most sexy and steamy scenes.
David has previously gushed over co-star and lead Sam on his Instagram, claiming: ‘The stories are true, @samheughan is the most decent, generous and talented guy you’ll meet and a truly gifted actor.’
In his recent interview with Sydney Confidential, he also added: ‘Sam in particular is that guy you can never compete with. He’s so perfect and it makes you feel inadequate. So I feel sorry for all those husbands and boyfriends out there because we will never match up.’
Sam is believed to have formed a friendship with the actor, sharing Tweets promoting his arrival on the hit show and sending birthday wishes to the star.\

David’s character Lord John Grey is the governor of the prison holding Jamie Fraser.
Starz describes the new addition as: ‘a steadfast and honorable British subject, torn between a finely-honed sense of familial duty and a strong moral compass of right and wrong.’
With the death of villain Captain Black Jack Randall, it’s unclear whether David’s character will take on the role as Jamie’s newest enemy in the series.
The Outlander series is based upon the novels by Diana Gabaldon.
Outlander airs on Foxtel’s Showcase channel on Mondays from
