Handmaid’s Tale fans will remember June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss, Mad Men) escaping Gilead in the final moments of series six – but what happened to the daughter, Hannah, who she had to leave behind?

We rejoin Gilead five years after its collapse, and find it rebuilt with Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd, The Handmaid’s Tale) in control of an elite preparatory school, with June’s daughter Hannah – now named Agnes and played by Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another) – as a pupil.

Unlike her mother, Agnes is a model student for the regime, but after the arrival of rebellious new student Daisy (Lucy Halliday, Blue Jean) she begins to question the structure of the school she has grown up in and uncover her true parentage.

Disney + has now confirmed The Testaments will return for a second series, before the series finale of series one, on Wednesday 27 May 2026. The series has already been streamed for 45 million hours globally.
