Sophie Wallace, from Falkirk, is hoping to claim the title after finishing second two years ago
A GLASGOW student has her sights set on representing Scotland in this year’s Miss World competition.
Falkirk-born Sophie Wallace, 21, is going up against 17 other Scots beauties in the hope of clinching the 2019 Miss Scotland crown.

And the model – who recently completed an honours degree at Glasgow Caledonian University – is no stranger to the competitition.
She came second to Milngavie-born Romy McCahil two years ago in a glamorous ceremony attended by X-Factor star Emily Middlemas.
But now Sophie wants to go one better and dreams of representing Scotland at the Miss World finals in Thailand.
She said: “Growing up, I was lucky enough to travel across Europe as an international display gymnast with my former squad, Falkirk Infinity Gymnastics.
“I was just 12 years old when I first represented Scotland with my team at the Cosmogym festival in the Greek capital, Athens.“It was such an honour to represent my country at such a young age but, not only that, it taught me about the responsibility of being an ambassador for Scotland.
“Although I performed in many different countries, one thing was the same: every person we met always commented on how kind and generous us Scots are.
“To be given the opportunity to represent our incredible nation and our people once again would be a true privilege.”

Sophie is using her platform to help raise awareness for her chosen charity Carers Trust Scotland.
The charity works to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend.

The model added: “I have always been passionate about helping those who may be struggling more than most, and so after being shortlisted as a Miss Scotland finalist I felt strongly about using the competition’s platform to make as much of a difference as I can.
“Throughout my teenage years I seen first-hand the hard work and dedication of young unpaid carers, who gave up ‘normal’ activities like going shopping or spending time with friends so they could look after a family member.

“Being part of the Miss Scotland organisation has allowed me to give those people a voice and help them celebrate their achievements.
“Unpaid carers truly are Scotland’s unsung heroes.”
Sophie is holding a fundraising ball in aid of Carers Trust Scotland at The Scott’s function suite in Grangemouth.
