Outlander’s final season will address one of fans’ most burning questions “right away”, according to executive producer Matthew B Roberts.
Starz’s smash-hit period drama starring Caitriona Balfe as time-travelling healer Claire Fraser is coming to an end this year, with countless fans waiting for the season eight premiere on 6th March.
As anticipation for the final chapter of Claire and Jamie Fraser’s (played by Sam Heughan) epic love story reaches fever pitch, everyone is trying to predict what could be in store.
Since the introduction of young Fanny Pocock (Florrie May Wilkinson) last season, who is taken in by the Frasers following her older sister’s tragic death, viewers have been buzzing with theories about her true identity.
After she was overheard singing the modern tune I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside, fans have speculated that Fanny could, in fact, be related to Faith Fraser, the daughter who was sadly stillborn in season two.

Could the final season reveal that Faith actually lived on to have children of her own?
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Outlander’s producers have confirmed that these theories will be addressed as early as the premiere.
“I didn’t want to make fans wait halfway through the season to get the answers,” Roberts teased.
However, while Fanny’s true identity may be alluded to in the first episode, DNA testing is still around 200 years away in 17th Century America, so Claire and Jamie may never get definitive proof of their adoptive daughter’s lineage.

Roberts went on: “That one answer actually spawns about a thousand more questions, and those are what gets answered throughout the season.”
Also facing parenting challenges this season is Young Ian (John Bell), who arrives in North Carolina with his newly pregnant wife Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small).
“He’s ready and excited for fatherhood,” Bell says of Ian’s final arc.
“However, there’s a bit of trepidation because of past events and worry over not just his baby, but his wife’s safety, as well.”

While Outlander’s final instalment may be a season of rebirth and new beginnings, the Frasers could also have to face up to some crushing loss.
The recently released trailer has even alluded to the tragic death of Jamie himself in an upcoming battle, so fans have been warned to prepare a fresh box of tissues for the epic conclusion.
Outlander season 8 premieres Friday, 6th March on Starz and will be available to stream on MGM+ via Prime Video.
