Outlander Fans Stunned: How Did Brian & Ellen REALLY Get Lallybroch?

Outlander: Blood of My Blood fans are curious about how Brian and Ellen end up in Lallybroch

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Outlander and Outlander: Blood of My Blood

Outlander: Blood of My Blood has just concluded its debut season, with Brian Fraser (portrayed by Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) now firmly married and fleeing their enemies. Fans will be relieved to know that the second series is in the pipeline, with the cast already hinting at significant plot developments and new prequel books being penned as we speak, reports the Daily Record.

The pair managed to escape Castle Leoch on Ellen’s wedding day to Malcolm Grant (Jhon Lumsden), finding refuge in a bothy.

However, their reunion was brief as Brian responded to the Highland call to arms during the Jacobite uprising of 1715.

Brian realised he had no choice but to join his clan in battle or face death for shirking his duty.

Ellen encouraged him and promised to stand by him throughout, albeit from afar.

Many viewers are now speculating about Brian and Ellen’s future and are intrigued about how the couple finally achieved their happy ending and the Lallybroch estate.

How did Brian and Ellen acquire Lallybroch in Outlander?

Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels provide some insight into how the couple came to own their home of Lallybroch, also known as Broch Tuarach.

Following her marriage to Brian, Ellen’s brothers Dougal (Sam Retford) and Colum MacKenzie (Séamus McLean Ross) didn’t want their sister to be a tenant on Fraser lands and desired for her to have her own property.

Lord Lovat (Tony Curran) presented the couple with the deeds to Lallybroch, situated between Fraser and MacKenzie territories.

A stipulation declared the estate must transfer to Ellen’s offspring, though should she perish without producing an heir, Lallybroch would revert to Lord Lovat.

Even if Brian fathered children with someone else, they would be denied the property due to the specific nature of the arrangement for the pair.

As Outlander: Blood of My Blood remains in its infancy, viewers may wait some time before Lallybroch appears on screen.

Yet in Outlander, Jenny Murray (Laura Donnelly) discloses to Claire (Caitríona Balfe) that during one of Lord Lovat’s final visits to Lallybroch, Brian swiftly ejected him.

She further recounted how her grandfather Simon Fraser had tried to abduct Ellen and transport her to the isolated Monach Isles to prevent her marriage to Brian.

The second series of Outlander: Blood of My Blood is currently in production in Scotland, though only glimpses of the storyline have emerged.

Speaking about the upcoming instalment, Brian actor Roy previously said: “The fiery crosses are lit, and it’s given them [Ellen and Brian] an ultimatum, a crossroads.

“They think they’re safe but does Brian go and do the right thing, which is report back to his Laird for war and get ready for that, or does he choose to stay with Ellen and they run away and become fugitives and leave Scotland forever?”

Speaking to Radio Times about the potential of a baby Jamie Fraser making an appearance, he teased: “Well, everyone has to be born at some point. Take that as you will!

“There is one [character name] I saw the other day in a script that we just got and I thought, oh people are going to lose their minds over this one!”
