A royal couple who have recently separated are not set to divorce for one reason, a friend of the couple has revealed. Lord Nicholas Windsor, the youngest son of the Duke and late Duchess of Kent, and his wife, Paola, Lady Nicholas Windsor, are reportedly no longer together.
Although Lord Nicholas has not announced this himself, the absence of Paola at the funeral of her mother-in-law, the Duchess of Kent earlier this month raised suspicions, with a friend of the family confirming that the couple had in fact gone their separate ways. This comes 19 years after they married in 2006, in what was the first Roman Catholic wedding of a member of the Royal Family since the reign of Queen Mary I in the 16th century.
The Royal Family have not commented on the matter.
While Lord Nicholas and Paola may not divorce, plenty of other royal couples have in the past.
This includes King Charles, when he was the Prince of Wales and his first wife, Diana, Princess of Wales, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and Princess Anne and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips.
